I was a professional ballet dancer for ten years, dancing with four different companies, after winning the Yvonne Chouteau Award for outstanding student in ballet at the University of Oklahoma . I followed that up with a Masters of Fine Arts in Choreographic Theory and Practice from Southern Methodist University, which at the time had the number two ranked fine and performing arts school in the nation behind Julliard. After that came five years Directing the dance program at the Community College of Baltimore County which in 2008, under my direction, was named as one of the top three community college dance programs in the nation. CCBC is still the first, and the only, community college dance program ever to achieve National Accreditation of Schools of Dance standards.
