I am an American currently living in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and have done so for roughly 3 years of my adult life. I have a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies, and have lived in or visited many of the countries down here. I observe on a daily basis how Ecuadorian society operates, how the "macho" mentality permeates every aspect of the culture whether in a business sense, political sense or social sense. Seeing this through though the eyes of an educated gringo is beyond interesting and educational, it is entertaining.
