  1. You can find many different variations on the traditional BBQ sauce recipe if you look. Sometimes you may just want to stick with the traditional version, while other occasions might call for something a little different. Every recipe collection should contain some options for BBQ, because BBQ is a versatile dish that’s good for either a quick weeknight meal or a backyard weekend party. Here are two recipes for both traditional and low-fat BBQ sauce:

     

    BBQ Sauce Recipe: 1, Traditional BBQ Sauce Recipe

    Serves 2 to 4

     

    Ingredients

    1 cup White vinegar

    1 tablespoon Brown sugar

    1 tablespoon Red pepper

    1 tablespoon Hot pepper sauce

    1/4 cup Lemon juice

    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

    1 cup Beef broth

    1 teaspoon Salt

    1 teaspoon Pepper

    Directions

    • Combine white vinegar, brown sugar, red pepper, hot pepper sauce, lemon juice, and worcestershire sauce in a medium-sized saucepan.
    • Bring mixture to a boil and then reduce heat.
    • Allow BBQ sauce to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Pour beef broth into BBQ sauce mixture, and season with salt and pepper.

    BBQ Sauce Recipe: 2, Low-Fat BBQ Sauce Recipe

     

    Serves 2 to 4

    Ingredients

     

    2 tablespoons Margarine

    1/4 cup Chopped onion

    1 cup Ketchup

    1 cup Water

    2 tablespoons White vinegar

    1 teaspoon Salt

    1 teaspoon Pepper

    2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

    2 tablespoons Lemon juice

    2 tablspoons Brown sugar

    1 teaspoon Mustard

     

    Directions

    • Melt margarine in a medium-sized saucepan over high heat.
    • Add onions to margarine and allow them to soften.
    • Combine ketchup, water, white vinegar, salt, pepper, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar and mustard in a mixing bowl.
    • Add mixed ingredients to the saucepan.
    • Allow all ingredients to simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes or until thickened.

    Both of the BBQ sauce recipes are quick, easy and very customizable. You might want to consider serving them with a side of cole slaw, corn or green beans. If you are watching your weight, the second BBQ sauce recipe is perfect on reduced-calorie buns. You can also cut some calories by serving your BBQ open-faced, using just one side of the bun.
