  1. 3 cups of all purpose flour                                    1 cup of sugar

4 tsp of baking powder                                         1/2 tsp of salt

    1 egg                                                                    1 2/3 cups of milk

1/4 cup of cooking oil                                           1 1/4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese (or see variations)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir together thoroughly. Add egg, milk and oil to dry mixture. Stir together until all lumps are gone, about 200 strokes. Stir in the mild cheddar cheese, making sure to distribute cheddar cheese evenly throughout the batter. Place the batter into a greased loaf pan. Bake for an hour, test bread with a toothpick. Return to oven for up to an additional 15 minutes if needed. Allow the cheese bread to cool in the loaf pan. Serve cheese bread warm or remove cheese bread from the loaf pan and serve later. Wrap cheese bread in foil or store in a plastic container with a lid to maintain freshness. Yield one loaf per recipe.

For variations of cheese bread try adding nuts (cashews, or other small baking nut pieces) , adding nuts and removing cheese, using sharp cheddar instead of mild cheddar, using mozzarella instead of cheddar, or make bread without cheese or nuts added to the bread.
