The IRS does seem to audit you more the higher your income is.  In 2011, the IRS audited 12.5% of people with reported incomes of over 1 million dollars per year.  From 2006-2011 though they only audited 1% of people with incomes lower than $200,000 per year.

In 2011, people who make over $1,000,000 per year paged about 29% in taxes on average.  Interestingly the tax rates can range from 15% to 35%.
