The moving business, like many others, is poorly regulated and companies vary in quality greatly. Only hire a moving company with a good reputation–ask them for names and numbers of satisfied customers you can call. If the movers don’t pack it, they will likely not pay for anything broken in transit. If you have them pack it, they will have to pay, but packing is expensive. I would take your breakables and transport them yourselves in your vehicles. Let them haul the rest. Use some friends to help you pack and unpack. Use the movers to move the big stuff.

Yes. It’s called man and van services. Basically one or two movers come to your address and load all your boxes in their moving van. I’m saying boxes because it’s highly recommended you pack all your items before your move starts. So, yeah, there you have it.
