Do video games teach physics?

Not really, because in order to understand through animations or playing you must have some knowledge of physics concepts.

If it’s a game about physics, maybe. Usually video games have their own Physic systems that have no real world use.

Not really as to understand what is happening but if you do have a small idea   what is going on then you can say what is happening;. a few games will have things that have real world science to back them up, so no you have to learn physics first

I think there are games that promotes the thought and help the understanding of things. So I guess if you search you can find something.

While the vast majority do not have proper physics, a few games do stick out. Some of the newer racing games are capable of teaching how cars behave under adverse weather conditions (i.e. rain or snow). One game in particular, BeamNG.drive, prides itself as being heavily realistic when it comes to driving and crash physics. I should also point of Kerbal Space Program which is probably the most realistic game I have seen. As someone with an aerospace background, this game portrays a good sense of basic orbital mechanics.
