How good is a wolfs eyesight?
Wolves’ vision is just about as good as humans’. Wolves may be nearsighted because they lack a foveal pit, an indent in the retina that provides focusing, especially on distant objects. Wolves have great peripheral vision. their eyes are optimized to detect movement. They have a very high ratio of rods, gray scale receptors, to cones, color receptors, in the retina. They have about 95% rods. This helps with night vision. Wolves’ night vision is far superior to that of a human.
