How to treat fungal skin infections?
Common fungal skin infections include yeast, Candida, ringworm, jock itch and athlete’s foot. Lotions, ointments, anti-fungal creams or drying agents may be applied to affected skin areas. Over-the-counter medications include ketoconazole and clotrimazole. These types of drugs known as the azoles class are often prescribed. Other anti-fungal agents such as nystatin and amphotericin can have possible, serious side effects. Your doctor could add systemic anti-fungals, either oral or injectable, to your therapy.
