Is there any difference between a 4D scan and Mediscan during pregnancy?

Yes, a 4D scan looks at superficial structure of baby (the outside), we can see cleft lip, open spinal defects, limb deformitys, etc.  the anatomy scan (Mediscan-medical scan) is a diagnostic scan looking at all the inside structures of baby to be sure it is developing properly.  Kidneys, heart, brain, other organs, etc.  You don’t see this with 4D.  However, on your diagnostic anatomy scan, if they discover baby has a cleft lip, a follow up 4D scan is recommended to see exactly how it looks in real-time, how far it goes, does it contain the nose, etc.  Most surgeons wanting to do surgery after birth would want these images to know the extent of the cleft.  these 2 different scans can work well together.  Otherwise, on normal anatomy scans, moms choose 4D often to capture beautiful pictures of their babies in the womb to remember such a precious time.
