Probably. You could also try double-sided tape on the problem areas. The cats should learn very quickly to scratch elsewhere. Make sure you are providing them with plenty of cardboard or other materials to scratch when they need.

Cats scratch because they find that area or cloth soft… so they will scratch it … you can provide ur cat scratch stoppers or u can train ur cat not to do it.
