The only pickles I can find (for the most part) are kosher dills, and they aren nearly sour enough. I want a pickle with a pucker factor of 10 that will make my face cave in on itself. Can you help me find this in the LA area?

Hi Tom,

There aren’t many places that make sour pickles anymore. I hate to be the bearer of bad news! Many people make their own sour pickles through fermentation. I have a couple of friends who have family members in TN who do it through this method. Anyways, from what I could find out there is a spot in Pasadena that actually has pickles shipped out from the East Coast. To be honest NY is about the only state that really has a central location that makes them in bulk. The spot is Pasadena Victory Park Farmer’s Market. Hope this helps.

You can make you own with cucumber, vinegar, dash of salt in a jar and let it sit. Add water to dilute the vinegar if it’s too sour.

Or you can take Koshers dill and add more vinegar, though it will still need to sit for awhile.
