What are the best kept secrets to selling on Amazon.com, even using its FBA program?
I’ve had limited success selling on Amazon using FBA, although I stopped putting much effort into it. I was frustrated by the fact that Amazon would insist on sending every one of my items to a different warehouse and I could never accumulate enough items to go to one warehouse to offset the shipping costs. Also, keep in mind that when you find an item at a store, such as Target or a dollar store, so is everyone else in the country, and you will have a lot of competition.
The best items I have found to sell are office supplies, such as printer ink and photo paper, which I used to get a Staples. However, Staples is dramatically cutting back their promotions, so I think that gig is up. I’ve also had success with high-priced drugstores items, such as Osteo BiFlex. You can’t buy the cheaper drugstore items because Amazon will no longer sell them individually under Amazon Prime and it is the Amazon Prime buyer that you are selling to. If you buy the cheaper items, you will have to bundle them into groups of four or six. With the higher-priced drugstore items, be sure the check the expiration date.
I’m sure there are lots of other items that work. The best thing to do is try not to buy common items at places like Target but find a little more uncommon source and just start sending in items to see what works.
