What do you mean by treasury bills?
Treasury bill:
· They are money market instruments to finance the short term requirements of central government and state governments in the country.
· There are different types of treasury bills based on the maturity period and utility of the issuance namely; 14 days treasury bills, 91 days treasury bills, 182 days treasury bills and 364 days treasury bills etc.
· 14 days treasury bills are available on all Fridays and the notified amount is Rs. 100 crores
· 91 days treasury bills are available on all Fridays and the notified amount is Rs. 100 crores
· 182 days treasury bills are available on alternate Wednesdays (which is not a reporting week) and the notified amount is Rs. 100 crores
· 364 days treasury bills are available on alternate Wednesdays (which is a reporting week) and the notified amount is Rs. 500 crores
