What is some good architecture software?
Hi Scott,
Architecture is a wonderful field to embrace and a good first tool would be a home design software that offers design tools and tutorials to learn basic design skills. When I worked for the American Institute of Building Design, a company called SoftPlan was popular among the designers to design house plans and offers free technical support. This may be a good start.
With any software there’s learning curves and sometimes training/assistance is required, but this should be a good beginning for your friend’s son. Another pointer is that nothing beats courses at a community college or university from a seasoned building designer or architect.
Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions or if I can put your friend’s son in touch with any of the 30 leading U.S. residential architects I network with at The House Designers.

It depends on what kind of experience do you have. are you a beginner or professional already
For me the best soft for architecture is ArchiCAD and I can explain why. this software is easy to study, it can model anything and the main thing – you can work faster than in other programmes.
Second good software is Autocad
Third one for me – Autodesk Revit
Forth – not only architectural sofware Autodesk 3D max Studio
Fifth – Artlantis Studio, that’s for only renders, but it’s the fastest render engine today I think
