Choosing the best college to study is not an easy thing to do as there are many important things that you need to consider when choosing a college. College’s overall reputation, cost and location are some of the essential things that must be considered when choosing a college. https://twitter.com/lowellmilkenctr

The reputation, surroundings, location, cost and its preponderant subject. For example, if you want to learn art but its preponderant subject is on science, that would affect your study greatly.

To be honest, there is a lot involved in selecting the right college for you.  In my experience, there have been a lot of friends that chose the wrong college for the wrong reasons and had to go through transfers and reapplying to new colleges.

First off, you need to decide what is a priority for you.  What are the top 5 most important things you want out of college?  Academics, location, sports, housing, friends, major, etc.  This can obviously change as you begin your search, but this list needs to be about you.  If you create this list based on what other people want from you, you will not be successful.

Next, you need to start applying to the colleges that fit your criteria.  Once you start applying, the college can start setting up tours, sending you letters, and giving you information on scholarship opportunities.  set up times to visit and go with a parent or guardian.

When you do visit, take in the experience.  write down what you do and do not like about it.  In the end, it comes down to a feeling by you.  Can you be successful there?  do you like the layout? Does it feel like home?  All of these things need to be considered when selecting a college.  Be honest about how you feel about each and every answer.  You will know when you have visited the right place for you.  It will just feel right.

You may have to think about many for this selection. As this is long term selection, you should be carefully make the decision. Location, Reputation, Cost would be the main facts. But don’t forget to get thoughts/views of current students, parents and teachers as well after normalizing few selections.

Many things need to be taken into account when choosing a college.

  1. The location (do you want to stay close to home or move far away).
  2. Cost is very important, as well as availability of scholarships and financial aid.
  3. What is the area like?  Is there a good reputation, what is nearby as far as activities, restaurants, stores, etc.
  4. What schools have good programs in the area you want to major in?
  5. What schools have opportunities for extracurricular activities that interest you, such as sports?
  6. Size and student population may be a factor in choosing a college (it was for me).

I am sure there are others, but these are the main things I considered when choosing where to attend college.
