The titanic was built essentially as a pleasure boat for passengers and to also compete with other boat manufacturers such as Cunard.  Cunard at the time owned 2 of the largest ships afloat, neither of which could come close the the titanic!!!!

The Titanic was built as a luxury ship. The ‘Unsinkable Ship’ almost never made it to sea. Due to the building of it being put on hold, due to the company going bankrupt. The plans to save the ship and build it were saved by a man called JP Morgan.
