Adpartame, the artificial sweetener, is it good, bad or indifferent for you health wise?

I feel aspartame, along with any artificial sugar substitutes, is bad for you. Aspartame is what, 200x sweeter that regular sugar? It would be one thing if people used it in small quantities, but people dump tons of it into their drinks. People think because it makes drinks low in calories, they are justified in drinking tons of diet beverages a day. It leads people to replace water with chemicals. I feel sucralose (splenda) isn’t any better. With the sucralose molecule, the hydrogen-oxygen groups typically found are replaced with chlorine atoms. I would rather not consume chlorine, thank you very much. Also, even though it says there are zero calories, splenda actually DOES contain calories, but because they are a “negligible” amount, the FDA lets them label it as zero.
