Not necessarily. A defendant may be released on bail pending the appeal of any misdemeanor. A defendant convicted of a felony may be released on bail as long as he was not sentenced to more than ten years (unless he has been convicted of Murder, Indecency with a Child, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Robbery, Sexual Assault or certain drug offenses).  more
