Cannot help you with the costings, but yes you can get double glazed wooden replacement windows – I believe they will be more expensive but so very much nicer than UPVC, especially in an older house. We have hard wood double glazed wooden windows which are a natural wood stain. I have never regretted having them and they are very easy to maintain. If you google ‘wooden double glazed windows’ there are loads of companies advertising.
