ANDHRA and TAMIL NADU separation issue. How much telugu population in MADRAS CITY in 1953(separation year)?
Telugu’ population was second only after Tamil population at the time of partition. Even now, Telugu people occupy second place in Chennai( previously Madras), after Tamil population. Even in some places, you can find sign boards in shops, hotels, etc in Telugu. Most of the business community of Chennai have their mother tongue as Telugu. Not only at Chennai, in whole Tamil Nadu, people who have Telugu as mother tongue, are second in population. Andhra Pradesh preferred Tirupathi, in the bargain at that time, than Chennai, that why Chennai was with Tamil Nadu.
