Answer Do I need an International Drivers License (IDP) to rent a car in Bulgaria?

IKO86 recommends you supplement your local driver's license with an International Drivers Permit. An IDP is written in 10 languages and serves as an officially recognized translation of your local driver's license in over 150 participating members of the United Nations. Your IDP should always be accompanied by your valid local driving license. The UN do not issue driving permits, but use authorized travel associations to administer the service. A passport-size booklet is administered verifying that the motorist has a valid driver's license from his/her permanent place of residence.
