Are acids and bases ionic or molecular?

0

Both acids and bases are ionic compounds. That means that they need to start off with a positive cation and end with a negative anion. Acids with either start with H- or end in -COOH (in the case of organic acids). Bases will end in -OH. These compounds need to be in solution (water) to act as either an acid or a base. If they are not in water, they are just ionic compounds.
