No. Children that come to the Ranch are diagnosed with the serious illnesses listed above. Because of their illness these children would be unable to attend a traditional summer camp or participate in winter sports. The focus at the Ranch is to safely provide these children with an exciting outdoor Adirondack adventure filled with love, friendship and sharing. How are children selected to attend the Double H Ranch? Campers are referred to us by hospitals, doctors, social workers and campers and their families. All campers, whether they are new or returning, must fill out an application form for the program they wish to attend. All of the applications are carefully screened by our medical director, Dr. Kathy Braico. Preference is given to children who have never attended the Double H Ranch but each session includes “seasoned” campers who can help the new campers with their first Ranch experience.
