Are all Tufts Health Plan members covered under the Massachusetts mental health parity legislation?
No. The law applies to HMO, POS and PPO members enrolled in fully insured products that are underwritten by Tufts Health Plan. The law does not apply to POS, PPO and EPO members who are enrolled in self-insured groups, where the employer is the insurer. Some self-insured plans may have chosen to adopt parity.
