Are babies born at 36 weeks gestation, free and clear of danger at this point?”
She is 22 and in college now, but I still wouldn’t have called that “free and clear” because the main problem was that the lungs were not fully-developed and the birth canal functions as a wringer to squeeeze the gunk out of the lungs as the infant shifts from water-based to air-based environment, enabling the infant to take a breath. My daughter basically took two weeks to dry out her lungs. I wouldn’t think an extra week would make that much difference, tho it could.
