Are backyard hens smelly?
While any animal not properly cared for can create an unpleasant odor, urban hens are certainly no more offensive in this respect than are dogs or cats. Hens need a clean, dry shelter and run along with fresh litter and bedding on a regular basis to keep odors at bay. The proposed ordinance (and existing law) requires proper disposal of waste and, as with any other ordinance violation, problems would be dealt with by the proper authorities.
