The only thing that you need to make sure of in any bike she wants to ride, is that her feet touch the ground on both sides (at the same time). Without, this minimum, she will find herself dropping the bike frequently. As for dropping the bike, don't be too worried, it happens to the best of us, no matter how good you get. 99.999999% of the time there's no risk of injury, just something that needs to be fixed on the bike, usually wing mirrors. Medium engine sized bikes are about the safest thing to ride, powerful enough to out-pace that four (or more) wheeled blind pratt that is trying to put their vehicle in the space your bike is currently occupying, or trying to "race" you as you overtake, and not so powerful that you find yourself driving headlong into that brick wall (that's a metaphor!) you didn't see until the last second.
