Please check www.osha.gov for the latest requirements on lancing devices and needles. If the student is checking their own blood glucose then they can use their own personal device and change the lancet according to instructions from their health care provider (some may not change it every day – they have the option of changing the lancet at home if they choose). If school personnel are providing this service for the student then a disposable lancing device (sold by companies such as Owen-Mumford or B-D) must be used.
