Are booster seats with shields safe to use?
Shield boosters are no longer recommended for children under 40 lbs. These children should ride in a car seat with a harness, (convertible or combination seat.) If the child is over 40 pounds read the manufacturer’s instructions to see if the shield can be removed. You must have a lap and shoulder belt to use the seat this way.
