OTTAWA, Feb. 26 /CNW/ – On Wednesday, February 28, the Canadian Standards Association and the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) will make an announcement regarding enhancing the protection and preparedness of Canada’s police, fire and paramedic services in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) incident. Dr. James Young, Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada will speak at the event on emergency management issues related to CBRN incidents. Following a brief announcement, media will be invited to observe a demonstration of Ottawa’s emergency first-responders in protective clothing and equipment reacting to a simulated crisis involving a CBRN incident. A tour of the Ottawa Paramedic Service’s state-of-the-art LEVEL III decontamination bay for vehicles, equipment and personnel will also be available.
