Are Chihuahuas very expensive?
A. If the dog is being offered with American Kennel Club official certificate papers, it may cost over $600.00. Some breeders charge up to $1200.00 offering what they call “teacup” sized dogs. These papers (provided by the breeder) mean that the parents of your Chi are registered with the AKC and that the puppy can be registered. The papers show that the dog is purebred, but they do automatically ensure that dog will meet show standards. If you desire to enter your pet in competitions, it may help to purchase a dog bred from a show champions. Prices can vary greatly by region and availability. Chihuahuas without papers can be purchased for much less and most are no different from those with papers. If possible, take a look at both parents if purchasing a puppy to determine what size it will be as an adult.
