Are documents related to shops, including instrumentation and control required to be included in the LSN?

A. Documents related to instrument calibration programs and calibration data should be included in the LSN. The control of measurement and test equipment, including tools, gages, and instruments, is required by 10 CFR 63.142. Measures must be established to ensure that these devices are properly controlled, calibrated and adjusted at specified intervals to maintain their accuracy within necessary limits. Requirements for the control of measuring and test equipment are described in Section 2.5.1.3 Acceptance Criterion 12 of the Yucca Mountain Review Plan. Documents related to shop activities, such as fabrication, repair, or maintenance of equipment important to safety or waste isolation (and therefore controlled by the QA program) should be included in the LSN. Documents related to non-quality-affecting shop activities, such as maintenance records of onsite locomotives used during site characterization can be excluded from the LSN.
