Are dust particles positively or negatively charged?

I think it would depend greatly on the origin of the dust. Even then, I suspect many of the particles would be positively charged and many would be negatively charged, but I don’t know for sure. I do know this much: the triboelectric series lets you determine whether a substance is likely to become positively or negatively charged when it brushes up against other substances. You can examine it here: http://www.siliconfareast.com/tribo_seriā€¦ A lot of the dust in our homes comes from flakes of human skin, so presumably it occupies a position close to the positive end of the scale. If I had to guess (and that’s really all this is), I’d say that most dust particles are positively charged. Again, that’s just a guess. You might try asking somebody at an allergy clinic. They would probably be able to tell you a lot more about the nature of dust. I hope that helps. Good luck!
