Are family members allowed into the PACU?
Due to the close proximity of patient cubicles, visiting is restricted to one person at a time when the nurse feels the patient will benefit most having family at the bedside. The PACU is also a critical care unit, with some patients who are seriously ill, so visitors may not be permitted or for a time restricted. One visitor is always allowed in the case of minors (under 18 years of age), language interpreters, and special care givers for patients who are mentally impaired.
