Are fibers safe for archival use in Scrapbooks?
Fibers are one of the safest types of embellishments that are available for Scrapbooking. Fibers are acid free and soft so they will not abrade or damage your photos. However, if you are still concerned about the safety of your photos, you can also follow the advice of many scrapbookers and either separate your fibers from the photos on the page, use archival safe page protectors as a buffer between your photos and the fibers, or use duplicate copies of your photos. Please note, however, we recommend that you do NOT use our fibers, while naturally acid free , for heritage photographs or those irreplaceable photos. We find that the guidelines for safety and care of heritage photos on this website Guidelines For Preserving Your Photographic Heritage very helpful. For heritage layouts with any embellishments we strongly recommend that you use a duplicate copy of your heritage photographs.
