Are flesh plugs or ear tunnels harmful?

Well, the process is actually quite simple: place progressively larger jewelry into the earlobe such that, over time, the hole stretches larger and larger. Up to a certain size, the ear will shrink back to normal should the wear choose to take the jewelry out. However, beyond about 8mm (0g), the stretched holes will become more or less permanent, resulting in a ‘great big gaping hole”. Clearly, whether you find the look appealing or not depends on your perspective. I have very large stretched lobes (38mm or 1 1/2 inches) and I personally love the look and have had them for 10 years. However, I know many reasons why it’s not appropriate for somebody so young to make a permanent change to their body. The good news: unlike tattoos, it is relatively inexpensive and pain-free to have a minor surgery to fix them, should she stretch too large and change her mind.
