“We like things warmer, thank you.” This was the interesting result of an informal, unscientific poll of our few friends, asked to choose between an earth that was a degree or so colder than today, or one with current temperatures. Unlike those of many climate models, our findings can be reproduced by just about anyone. Go ask your friends whether they would prefer colder winters the hallmark of a cooler planet and we think you ll get the same answer. Almost the same number of people who didn t want a return of the Little Ice Age the climate between 1600 and 1850 told us they would actually prefer global temperatures to rise a bit than to cool down somewhat, citing their reduced heating bills of the last two relatively mild winters as harbingers of warmth.
