Are gallstones dangerous?
On there own gallstones are not dangerous. Biliary colic and cholecystitis are more painful than dangerous. However jaundice and pancreatitis can be more serious and both of these conditions will usually need emergency admission to hospital. What treatments are there for gallstones? The only useful treatment for gallstones is to remove the gallbladder surgically. If the gallstones alone are removed or dissolved they will inevitably grow back.
