Are green eyes really rare?
As far as eye color goes, brown, dark brown (or sometimes misinterpreted as black), hazel, blue, gray, etc., are considered common eye colors. For the darker colors, these colors are usually dominant. They have a large amount of melanin, a chemical that gives us our skin tone, as well as eye color, also gives eyes a darker appearance. As for the blue and grays, these are recessive, and have much less melanin. They are becoming increasingly rare over time, as there are many colors dominant over blues and the like. Eventually, blue might altogether become extinct, or at least THE most rare, as it is has little chance of surviving being the low end of the spectrum. But that would take a long long time, and as of now they are still very common. Least common are examples such as green, amber (yellowish-gold), violet (blue with reddish tint), or red.
