Are Halal and Kosher(Kashrut) diets interchangable?

No. Kosher standards are more strict than halal ones. A Muslim could eat kosher foods except for meat but a Jew could not eat most foods considered halal. Halal – an animal is prayed over before being slaughtered Kosher – no prayers by a rabbi but very strict guidelines on the slaughter and preparation Halal – no alcohol allowed kosher – alcohol is allowed, drunkenness is frowned upon http://www.jewfaq.org/kashrut.htm http://www.muslimconsumergroup.com/Gener… # # # Javy is incorrect (as usual when it comes to Judaism) – Halal meat is not considered kosher because the slaughter guidelines are not the same. Nothing snobbish about it – those are the requirements that have been in place for generations as set by G-d.
