Are holistic schools more relaxed in discipline?
Actually, in order for a holistic school to function efficiently, there are a mixture of components that must fall into place.On the surface, the program might look and sound very ‘free’ and people interpret that as being too relaxed in discipline.The reality is that some very specific disciplinary tactics need to be in place in order to create enough boundaries so the children have some guidance while loosening others so children have room to explore things on a variety of levels. Once children learn the difference between being free and being responsible, the atmosphere becomes one of self-discipline rather than external discipline.
