Are houses built in the 1800s always haunted?

We always lived in rather old houses in the past, now we have one where one part is 500 years old. I always felt great in them, the only house I ever felt strange in was one built during the last fifty years. In Thailand they honour the spirits of the land, not just the house which is maybe more to the point (well in horror movies too, many a modern house is built on a burial ground!) In Thailand many homes have a tiny house on stilts in the grounds, this is called a spirit house, you make offerings there to placate and honour past lives. They are often really beautiful, sometimes very simple.
