It appears that few if any Kenmore appliances are actually made by Sears. If you seach +Kenmore +"Heat Pump", then you will find postings about or by Kenmore installers removing actual manufacturers' stickers off of heat pumps and other central air products and then pasting Kenmore stickers on the equipment. My recommendation is BEFORE purchasing a "Kenmore" appliance, make sure you receive a copy of the owner's and service manuals BEFORE paying any money or signing any contracts or paperwork. Apparently some Sears/Kenmore salespeople have engaged in deceptive sales practices in the past, saying you will receive the "Best" Kenmore model when actually you are getting an economy or value model made by another manufacturer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All that said, definitely get a Heat Pump rather than just a central air conditioner, and if you live in a colder/northern climate, then make sure it has a back-up heating ...
