Are kids and teens today too influenced by rap music?
It probably depends on the location. I don’t think all kids listen to rap, just like not all adults listen to classical music. Some probably find it just as annoying as others find it inspiring. It’s tough to make a blanket type statement about all kids when there is such diversity around. The problem is that good kids don’t often make the newspapers or news reports, but bad kids do. Therefore, it’s easy to say…kids these days…because our view is tainted by media representations of groups. It probably should also be pointed out that some time in the 50’s a little kid named Elvis came along and made the old people say…holy cow… he is going to be a terrible influence for kids these days. Back in the 1920’s, the older people thought the country was going to hell because of booze and flappers. These were the people that got the country through the depression.
