Are LED christmas lights worth it?

The lights are much more efficient, a string of 100 LED lights will use $0.08 worth of electricity in 30 days of 24 hr use according to my local power company. That relates to around $15 for the same string of incandescent bulbs. On top of that you have the safety considerations. Incandescent bulbs produce a significant amount of heat. This can lead to burns if you or your children accidentally touch one, and it can lead to fires if they are touching a flammable surface. There is also the factor of having to replace bulbs. We all know the hassle of searching the string of Christmas lights for the burnt out bulb. LED bulbs never need to be replaced (at least not likely in your lifetime) which means you save money on the bulbs. When you consider all these benefits, plus the fact that they look great and the small benefits for the environment, they are definitely worth the purchase.
