The Chinese are way behind in manufacturing quality vehicles. Most of them are not worth even the inexpensive money you pay for them often breaking quickly. Parts are almost impossible to find and getting a good mechanic to work on them is even harder.

Chinese(includind Lifan) scooters are only as good as the service backing them up. Ask other owners if the shop has taken care of their problems-you WILL have problems, including long waits for parts. It helps if you can make minor repairs yourself... I would recommend buying a used Jap scooter instead. Be patient and watch for a low mileage model not over five years old. Insist on a test drive before you buy!

Chinese manufacturers are not innovative. They reverse-engineer other brands of bikes, rather than developing their own. Their quality control is poor and getting parts and service for them is difficult, if not impossible. You definitely get what you pay for. Edit: I just hear on the news that a bunch of children's toys made in China were painted with lead-based paint. These people poisoned our pets, put poison in our toothpaste, and now poison our children. Just to reiterate why if you have the choice to buy a product from somewhere other than China, don't buy Chinese!

They are often underrated! Chinese motorcycles have been exporting to many countries in the world, and they have earned a good reputation. Although they might not be as good as, say, American Harley Davidson, or some Japaneses brand like Suzuki or Honda, Chinese motorcycle are often priced a lot lower than those brands. If you are looking for a solid, cheap, nothing fancy, motorcycle, Chinese motorcycles are good for you.
