Are lung problems common after a transplant?
It is estimated that 30 percent to 60 percent of all hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patients develop some type of post-transplant lung problem. These can be infections, such as aspergillus or cytomegalovirus (CMV), or non-infectious problems such as bronchiolitis obliterans (BO) and bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP).
