I would bet pretty strongly that maternal instincts are biological. The question is not whether they are biological, but how they are turned on.They may not be turned on in all biologically female people, or turned on to different levels. And they may be turned on in males as well as females. Another forum described, rather nicely, sexuality as havin at least three components: What’s between your legs: your physical sex What’s between your ears: the sex you think you are Who’s between your legs: the sex to which you are attracted, Eahc of us have all three, and the lucky ones have a matching set. But to which of the set maternality is attached, if it is not an independent variable, I do not know.
