Are McCann Supporters in Awe of their Social Status?

I agree that their social status is an issue. I can’t help but believe the largely sympathetic coverage would have been very different if it had been, for instance, a couple of Asda employees in Ibiza going to a club and leaving their kids alone, not a couple of doctors in Portugal going for tapas while leaving their kids alone. I’m not saying that I believe it’s a factor for anyone here, but I do believe the media would have been less sympathetic or indeed less interested if it had been a load of chavs. I do however have to disagree on your claim they’re trying to become celebrities on the back of it. I really don’t believe that. I think it’s much more likely they know their child is missing as a direct result of their negligence (let’s not pull punches here folks, if they’d stayed in with the kids no-one would ever have heard of them and they’d have 3 kids with them today). I think they’re just consumed with the guilt of it and trying to do everything they can to allay that guilt.
